Congratulations to the New Lawyers! :)

While I have my own questions regarding the recently released 2007 Bar Exam Results, I think that I must still congratulate those who made it. I know how hard you've worked and prayed for it.

You can now place the "." to the A T T Y that you earned in law school. Congratulations to the new lawyers.

Help Save the Environment

The recently concluded Earth Hour was a concrete example of the people's consciousness of the environmental issues that the world has to face.

In order to help prevent, or at least lessen, the negative effects of the current environmental problems, one need not have to wait for a wordwide action. One can start on his own and, eventually encourage the people in his community.

One step that can be taken is the recycling of plastic materials. In the household alone, one can already collect several used plastic materials. The plastic materials can then be sold to the recycling companies. The said materials will be transformed into High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE). At this state, the recycled plastic materials can already be used in the packaging of different consumer product such as snack food, bottled water and margarine.

To encourage the people in your community or your organization to do the same, you may ask them to read about HDPE Material . In our own little ways, we can help save the environment.

Not So Happy about the Bar Exam Results

I am not so happy about the Bar Exam Results.

Not all of my friends who took it for the second time passed. While I am happy for those who made it this time, still, I cannot be completely happy.

I'm sorry that I had to emphasize that my friends took it for the second time. I just had to say it because the first time they took it, their grades were already in the 74.9_ range. One of them was .02 away from making the 75 mark.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court released the 2007 Bar Exam results. Out of the more than 5,000 examinees, only 5% "originally" passed the exams. In view of the same, the passing grade was lowered from 75 to 70. The passing rate went up to about 22%.

I naturally feel for my friends who almost made it the first time they took the bar exams. While more than 1,000 examinees were made happy by the lowering of the passing rate, I cannot help but think that it is quite unfair to those who took the bar exams in the previous years. Well, that goes especially to my friends who were just a fraction of a point away from the 75 mark.

2007 Bar Exam Results Known on 29 March 2008 ( yes, not today!!)

Talk about prolonging the agony of the 2007 Bar Examinees.

The Supreme Court has, once again, released an "official" announcement. The 2007 Bar Exam Results will be released tomorrow, 29 March 2008.

I understand how the bar examinees are feeling right now. Just keep on praying. It will definitely keep you sane. :)

Bits and Pieces

I'm sorry, I can't think of anything to write about. Anyway, I've taken the survey below. You may also read my answers if you want to know some bits and pieces about me.

Goodnight.. I have to call it a day/night now. I'm just too tired.

What's the Weather?

2007 Bar Exam Results

Finally, the Supreme Court has issued an official announcement. The 2007 Bar Exam Results will be released tomorrow, 28 March 2008.

The oath-taking will be on 28 April 2008. Well, I also hope that the passing rate will be at least 28%.

God bless and Goodluck.

Update: The Supreme Court announced that the release of the results will be tomorrow or on Saturday.

Diamond Peel

I have always wanted to try diamond peel. With the promise of baby soft and clear skin after a few sessions, who wouldn't be tempted?

Well, I have googled it just now. I learned that the wand used has diamond powder-coated tip. I read, too, that there'll be no visible peeling afterwards because the peeling will already be done during the procedure itself.

Aside from the said information, I would also like to ask for the opinion of those who have personally tried it. Were there really good and visible results? Would you recommend it?

Thanks. :)

Idle in Makati's First Month

Today, 24 March 2008, marks the first month of Idle in Makati. :)

Being the new blogger that I am, having maintained this blog for a month is already a feat.

I'd like to thank you, my fellow bloggers, for helping me through this. You have guided me in posting my first tag, in inserting some widgets in my blog, and in my attempt to earn from this blog. Your comments also made me very happy. Most of all, I'd like to thank you for sharing your time and friendship with me. Starting out this blog last month was, indeed, a good decision.

Time to Reflect

Today is Maundy Thursday. I'm sure that most of you have gone home to your provinces. Even if the Holy Week has become a time for a few reunions, I'm sure that we go home to see and experience the tradition that we're used to.

I am happy to see that even after so many years, the way the Holy Week is commemorated has not changed. We still see the flagellants and hear the pabasa. The Holy Week truly allows us to take a few time out of our busy schedules and to reflect. Come Monday, we'll all be back to our usual tasks.

Let's Break the Vault

We love contests. We know just how much time we spend in front of the television watching the contestants play for big money or prizes. Of course, we all hope to win big prizes for ourselves.

Fortunately for us, we no longer have to stay in long queues just to be able to join a contest and have a chance to cash or prizes. Thanks to online contests. Yes, online contests allow us to join contests and win big prizes even at the comfort of our homes.

One site that you ought to try is breakthevault.com. One simply has to sign up and, after which, one will already have unlimited chances to solve the games that will be launched every Monday. Solving the games will also be easy for you because clues are given everyday. The first to solve the game will win the cash or prize. No need to fret, however, as a new game will be released after that.

I'm sure you're excited about the idea of online contests .

Stockholders' Meeting

It's time for another set of stockholders' meetings again.

When I was still in law school, I was not so much into Corporation Law. Before, there were some terms that I never bothered to understand. I thought they were just too technical.

Now, I could already talk about shares of stock, stock transfer book, shareholders, general information sheet, insider trading, listed companies and trading rules, among others. The difference is, I can understand the concept of the said terms now.
Assisting our clients in their stockholders' meetings is just a part of the job. It's just a way of making them feel that they are important to you. A regular stockholders' meeting only comes once a year, anyway.

2007 Bar Examination Results

I could understand how the 2007 Bar Examinees are feeling right now.

The Bar exam results are usually released before the Holy Week or before Maundy Thursday. At this point, I know that the Bar examinees are looking forward to an official announcement of the release of the results by tomorrow.

I, on the other hand, heard that number 28 will be the 2007 Bar examinees' lucky and favorite number. I was told that the exams will be released on 28 March 2008. The passing rate would be 28% and the oath taking will be on 28 April 2008. As we all know, all of these are just hearsay.

I really hope that the results will be released soon. It will really be good if the same will be released on the 18th or 19th. To release the results on a later date would only prolong the agony of the bar examinees.

At this time, reading the examinees' posts at Atty. Fred's site would definitely help. Learning that every examinee is praying not just for himself, but for the entire batch would definitely ease whatever tension, panic or stress that the other examinees feel.

Once again, i'd like to thank Atty. Fred for always extending his help to all of us. As I have said in my previous post, I was also one of those who frequented his site last year.

To the 2007 Bar Examinees, there's another soul here who is praying for you. If only the passing rate could be 100%.. Since we know all know that it can never be that way, let us just pray for a high passing rate.

Pacquiao Won!

Although the Filipinos' interest in Pacquiao's fights has already waned a little, I know that his winning the fight versus Juan Miguel Marquez would definitely be something that we could be ecstatic about.

Texas Roadhouse Grill Night

One week of work is finally over..again.

My friends and I went out tonight to have some breather. Most of the guys wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse Grill - El Pueblo to grab a bottle of beer. I found out why. Beer was sold at P35 a bottle. I guess that was really enough to complete their night.
To those who would rather not drink, you can enjoy your bottomless soda together with their great tasting food. The price was a little high but it would be worth it.
Happy weekend! :)

Not Too Soon

I learned a lesson today.

One must not be in a hurry in achieving something. Sometimes, we can be lured into getting things the easy way. That, I learned, should not be the case.

Well, we all commit mistakes.

Blog About the Things You Love--A PayPerPost Review

payperpost

Any blogger would say that blogging about the things that he loves would definitely give him a sense of happiness and fulfillment. PayPerPost ("PPP"), however, didnt't leave it at that. It made blogging about the things that you love even better.

PPP helps the bloggers, also known as the "posties", get paid for blogging the things that they love. How? PPP provides a channel called the marketplace, where the bloggers and the advertisers could "meet". In the marketplace, the advertisers post several opportunities to write about certain products, websites and services, among others. From the list of the available opportunites, a blogger would then choose the products or services that he would love to write about. That's it. The blogger would post his review (at least 200 words) of the product that he has chosen and once approved, he would already be $5 to hundred dollars richer. Isn't that easy and fun, as well?

Having read about the posties who are so happy about earning through blogging, I signed up for PPP. I admit that I really got ecstatic over the approval of my blog. The best part is, once this very first review gets approved, I will receive $20 rom PPP. You could also receive that $20 for your first review.

I honestly encourage you to sign up. Why? It is free, easy and fast. Once your blog is approved, you'll get to receive $20 upon the approval of your first post and you'll get paid through PayPal. For your subsequent posts, a minimum of $5 would be given.
In addition, there's also PPP Direct. PPP Direct allows a blogger to reach out to the advertisers by advertising their blogs. The best part is, the blogger could negotiate the value that will be given for a particular review that will be written through PPP Direct.

I couldn't wait for the extra income that I could use to buy some online stuff that I could use in personalizing my forthcoming wedding, and even to donate to some charities. I know that with the guaranteed earnings that PPP gives to its members, I could do all that. :)

Resignation

Just this night, I learned that a fellow associate had tendered his resignation.

In the office, we treat each other as friends and not merely as officemates. We knew that he had already sent out his resume to different offices weeks before. He also passed his resume online. Well, while we knew the time to say goodbye will definitely come, we all know that it will not be that easy.
Goodluck to you, our dear friend. I will not pray for you to come back to the office. I honestly want you to be successful in the new office that you will join. We'll definitely be happy about that.

Weddings-at-Work

This post is intended to acknowledge the assistance that the Weddings-at-Work e-group has unconsciously been giving me.

I have been a w@w member for a couple of months now. As I wanted to keep my anonymity, I opted to stay as a lurker. I, however, would like to thank the members and the administrators for all the information that I have been getting from the group. In due time, maybe for the suppliers' ratings, I'll be popping a message to the e-group.

Thanks to all my w@w sisses who have been visiting this blog. I even noticed that a certain Katrina had pointed to my site. Steph, on the hand, has linked me to her blog. :) I could only hope that my blog could, in the smallest way possible, also help you in your wedding preps.

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Rana.

Goodluck to all of us, sisses. Happy preps! :)

8 Weird Facts

This is a tag from Berry. It’s called “8 FACTS ABOUT MYSELF” . Here it goes:
********************************************************************************************************
In 8 facts about yourself, you share 8 things that your readers don’t know about you. Then at the end you tag at least 8 other bloggers to keep the fun going. Here are the rules:

RULES:* Each blogger must post these rules first.* Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.* Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.* Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
*********************************************************************************************************
I'm actually having a hard time thinking of those 8 facts that I could share with you. I'll just tag 8 persons first to keep the tag going. I'll just update my post each time something pops up.

Another Wedding Expense

I was at the Wedding Expo last Saturday. It was really a delight to see couples who are preparing for their big day.

I had the opportunity to clarify several wedding details with some of our suppliers. The Wedding Expo had made it easier for me to talk to them because they were all in the same place.

What I am now thinking of upgrading is the sound system. Supposedly, the sound system will come from our caterer. The same is actually a part of their package. Upon learning that the sound system that will be provided will only be that of a public announcement set-up, I entertained the idea of getting another supplier. I realized that no matter how good our emcee, string quartet and singers will be, the same will just be put to waste if the sound system will not be good as well.

Another expense. Do you think it would be a wise decision to get another supplier for the sound system?

By the way, I’d like to thank those who have tagged me. I’ll be working on them later. :)

Danny Noriega is Out

Danny Noriega. I'm not sure if he has a following here. While he became one of the controversial American Idol contestants, he, unfortunately did not make it to the Final 12.

His Filipino sounding surname has caused a stir. There are some forums were some Filipinos claim that Noriega is a Filipino. Some of those who replied reacted negatively, saying that Filipinos have this thing about claiming every person who has a Spanish sounding surname to be one of them.

You may see him sing here.

Second Photographer

It seems that getting married nowadays has become more and more expensive. Most of the couples-to-be would say that they would be willing to splurge as much as they can for their weddings' photo coverage. They would say that invaluable moments captured by those pictures would be worth the expense.

Aside from getting the most sought-after wedding photographer, however, more couples are now hiring a second photographer for their weddings.

As we all know, the official wedding photographer may take months before he could turn over the wedding album. We all understand that. Wedding photographers are busy as a bee nowadays. Enhancement of some pictures may also take some time.

Now, comes the second photographer. The second photographer is, most of the time, a hobbyist. His rates is way below the official wedding photographer's. The biggest bonus is, you'll be able to reminisce your wedding in about a day or two because the second photographer will give you the raw pictures.

Sounds good, right? I am now contemplating on paying a few bucks more to get the head of a certain photographer's group or paying the same amount to a second photographer.

What do you think?

Asus 8.9-inch Eee PC

Last November, I went in and out of almost all of the computer shops at Park Square. I was then inquiring about the price of the then newly released Asus Eee PC. It was actually my Dad who wanted to get hold of one. Unfortunately, the Asus Eee PC was only available in about 4 stores. The others did not even know what the Asus Eee PC was.

I believe that a lot of gadget lovers have it now. To those who are still trying to save for it, I suggest that you wait for the release of the 8.9-inch Asus Eee PC first. Having seen the 7-inch one, I think the slightly bigger screen would actually be a plus to your object of desire. Not only will the screen be bigger, the new version will also have a larger memory storage of up to 12 GB.

Well, the new 8.9-inch Asus Eee PC must come heavier on the budget but with the improved specs, I think it will be worth wating for it. Since we all still don't know how much it will be, we can at least hope for now that the difference in the price won't be that big.

Snapbomb

As a new blogger, the idea of money blogging came as a pleasant surprise. Being the new blogger that I am, I started to read about the paid to review sites.

Snapbomb is a new get paid to review site. To get started , one has to create an account at their site. Once an account is created, one will be asked to enter his blog/s. Snapbomb will then proceed to make a valuation of every blog based on its: (1) popularity, (2) expertise in a field, and (3) its audience size and reach. The good news is, Snapbomb does not require that a blog has to be at least 3 months old. Being indexed by Google, likewise, is not required.

Snapbomb does not require that a blogger disclose that he is writing a sponsored post. Considering the importance of honesty in blog marketing, however, Snapbomb recommends that such disclosure be made.

Getting paid for a sponsored post for Snapbomb should not also come as a problem. Payments are at Net 60 and are paid through paypal or check every 1st and 16th of the month. If you want to know how much value will be given to your blog, simply sign up now.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Concert

To my contemporaries who enjoyed the music of Red Hot Chili Peppers, I heard that they will be having their concert this April in the Philippines.

While I loved the group during my younger years, I don't think I'll be able to watch their concert. I heard that it will be held at Camarines Sur, in time for a big wakeboarding event. Well, that might be something to those who are willing to splurge on it.

Contract Review

I guess I also have to write something here about my job. While wedding preparations and blogging have always been on the surface lately, I also have a job to give attention to.

Tonight, I have to finish reviewing a contract of lease that a client will enter into. Contract review is more than finding the grammatical errors in a contract. You actually have to look into every provision to find out if the same is in accordance with law. You have to see to it that your client will not be in a disadvantaged position. You may even insert new provisions if that would mean giving more protection to your client.

Contract review, however, is just a part of my tasks. It actually just comes as an add-on. If I were a wedding supplier, contract review would only be one of the freebies. :) Well, got to start working now.

Lay-Away Plan

Wedding rings are perhaps the best remembrance of one's wedding day. Best remembrance because these are what we will be wearing everyday thereafter. Well, for the groom-to-be who might get into some kind of temptation later on, the wedding ring will definitely be a very good and visible reminder of the marriage that he vowed to keep for the rest of his life.

Considering the said importance of the wedding rings and everything that they symbolize, it would really be a good decision to invest on a good pair. Nowadays, wedding rings usually come in gold, white gold and platinum. They may come as diamond-studded or plain. The good news is, we no longer have to be worried about the price tag because most of the wedding ring suppliers offer lay-away plans.

I myself didn't know that wedding ring suppliers offer lay-away plans now. In our case, we chose white gold rings with a few diamonds on them. We only had to make an initial deposit of, read this: One Thousand Pesos. After finalizing our design, we were given an opportunity to pay the wedding rings in 12 monthly installments. It was a great help, really. We were able to choose the design that we really wanted; and paying for the same didn't give us much trouble.

To those who don't have their wedding rings yet, do inquire about the said plan. The said mode of payment will definitely help couples maximize the use of their budget.

Cecilio Abad

CECILIO ABAD thinks that he is as insignificant as an ant in the Philippine Fashion Scene. He even thinks that he is an unknown. Contrary to what he thinks, however, he is definitely a SOMEBODY in the wedding industry. I am sure that it will not take long for him to be known in the fashion industry.

Cecil, as many of his brides fondly call him, need not speak of his craft. Being the humble person that he is, his brides are the ones who, out of their satisfaction with the work of Cecil, recommend him to the other brides. Thus, for two consecutive years now, the votes of his very satisfied brides have landed him to the Weddings-at-Work's list of Top Ten Suppliers.

In as much as I would like to continue writing how good Cecilio Abad is, I think it's best to just give you a peek of some of his beautifully created bridal gowns. Fabulous, I would say. :)

I now understand why the brides would always say "Cecilio Abad is Cecilio Abad." and "You can never go wrong with Cecilio Abad.". Well, need I say more?
